APPLAUSE…
It was meant to be …..I first met May at a bakery on Whidbey Island. She was buying 10 loaves of bread. I asked her why. She told me she was a personal chef catering a bridal shower. I asked for her card. The rest is our shared history.
May has cooked for me on several occasions, catering dinner parties at our house on Whidbey. She not only worked with me on menus, she prepared beautiful, pure, and imaginative dinners. Her connection to my guests was pitch perfect and her presentations of the courses was impeccable She has relationships with quality vendors and selects dishes that are seasonal and delicious.
You and your guests will be thrilled with May’s cooking and service As one says, Bon Appetit!
MICHELE ROSEN
The bounty of the cuisine of the Pacific Northwest and Candice McLain are one and the same. Few people have her touch, which begins with selection of each ingredient and continues through to a most artful presentation on the table.
It is the follow-through along each step that makes Candice’s work unique and superior. Whether it is the choice of meat, vegetable, herbs or spices, she selects each item with a touch combining freshness, taste, and appearance. The preparation is meticulous, using a wizard’s blend of experience, knowledge, art and science to capture the essence of each sauce, condiment and salad.
There are no shortcuts in the world of the Rainforest Chef. Every moment that Candice spends preparing a meal will be appreciated by the discerning diner as a visual, tactile, aromatic, and savory bouquet for all the senses.
When it all arrives at the table the tempo of the meal wonderfully complements the essence of the Northwest. Out the window there may be misty wooded vistas, , the splash of the tides, and the call of the wild. Inside there is warmth, refreshment, and conviviality delivered in a unique package that only Candice can provide.

To be at Candice’s table is a wonderful culinary experience, the meal feels as if it was designed to benefit, not just to satisfy one’s hunger. All of the healthy organic ingredients contribute to the experience, and leave the dinner guest, a recipient of a well satisfied feeling, which can only come from a very creative well-prepared meal. It makes one feel as if they were not just a guest at a dinner table, but instead, the recipient of a wonderful meal composed with exquisite ingredients artistically displayed on a beautiful wood slab for a table.
To many more fun times, and oysters on the half shell, overlooking the very waters they came from.
